| |
|
Some foods can increase your heart disease risk and if you have been eating a bad diet for years, perhaps one high in cholesterol or a diet full of junk food or candy, it can be difficult to change your eating habits. However, a heart healthy diet does not have to mean bland, basic food - in fact, far from it!
Healthy Heart Diet Guidelines
So, what is the heart healthy diet exactly? The American Heart Association recommends that we eat less than 300 mg a day of cholesterol, that saturated fats make up less than 7% of our total daily calorie intake and that trans fats make up less than 1% of our daily calorie intake. Low fat protein sources, such as skinless poultry, are recommended in the heart healthy diet guidelines and fruits, vegetables, and whole grains are all very good for your heart too.
Look for the symbol that follows on our recipe pages as a guide to heart health diet choices. These are recipes that are low in fat and sodium both of which are great choices for a heart health diet. What Type of Noodles Do You Use for Chicken Noodle Soup |
| |
|
If you want to know what type of noodles do you use for chicken noodle soup, the answer is whatever type you want! Egg noodles are particularly popular in chicken noodle soup recipes but that does not mean you have to use egg noodles if you want to use another type instead.
In fact, you are not limited to solely noodles either. Rice, potatoes, and pasta also make great chicken soup recipe additions. If you want to use noodles, you might want to use egg noodles, glass noodles, homemade noodles, wheat noodles, vermicelli, udon noodles or any other type which you like and which suit the texture and flavor of the soup.
Matching the Noodles to the Soup
For example, a fragrant Thai chicken soup recipe would suit delicate glass noodles. A rich beef and chicken broth would suit thick, tasty udon noodles. A basic, farmhouse style chicken soup recipe would suit any kind of noodles, from egg noodles to udon noodles or even pasta. Egg noodles go well with many different chicken soup recipes and you can buy these in different thicknesses or make your own in any shape or size you want.
The key thing to remember is that there is no hard and fast rule about which type of noodles to use in chicken noodle soup recipes. As long as you make the soup well and you add the right amount of noodles, your soup should turn out very well.

How to Serve Soup |
| |
|
Tureens are a nice, traditional soup container and it is good to serve soup from these. Using a ladle, pour the soup into each person's bowl, consommé cup, finger bowl, or dish. It does not matter too much what type of bowl your guests have for their soup but they should match. Everyone should have a matching soup spoon too and access to seasonings in case they want to adjust the seasoning of their soup.
Soup Garnishes
Garnishes on soup look great, are simple to prepare and can be useful to identify the soup. You can use a flower-shaped slice of carrot, for example, to let everybody know the orange colored soup is carrot soup. You can use heavy garnishes on heavier soups, such as toasted, cheese-covered croutons, vegetable strips, small dumplings, or cucumber slices.
On lighter soups, you can use fresh herb sprinkles, fried tortilla strips, pureed vegetables swirled into patterns or fruit segments in ice cubes for chilled soups.
